While Jeff is following the war abroad, I'll concentrate on homeland security:

I'd to start off and say that I'm a Pro-War person, not some tree-hugging hippie. I do have one gripe about this war: Why Iraq? Why Saddam? Most importantly, why now?

Our economy is in shambles, yet we are spending millions of dollars worth of weaponry EVERY WEEK in the Middle East. Our stock market is plummeting. We are in a recession. Gas prices have gone up. Inflation is up. Our national education systems are in a deficiet of over 200 billion dollars.

Why can't we solve our own domestic problems first, then focus on the threats abroad?

Take, for example, our own borders. We've spent hundreds of millions on Homeland Security, but we don't have a proper drug interdiction force on the Mexican border. Hell, illegal immigrants and Mexicans are still flooding into our country, nearly unopposed, because the local cops don't give a damn, the feds don't give a damn, and Mr. Bush certainly dont' give damn. They are importing Mexican heroin and dope at thousands of pounds a day.

Now, why do we have this problem, you ask? Because we are not spending our money where it counts: Personally, I'd be more concerned about those damned Spanish bums forming their own country within the states then Saddam and his sorry excuse for a military. We actually have a department to deal with these border affairs, and their called, would you know it, the US Border Patrol. Too bad they are undermanned, understaffed, under trained, under armed, and under - funded. I personally wont' care if a chemical or biological warhead hits the mainland - I'll be dead before i can run to ACE or Home Depot to buy gas masks, or go to the hospital to get vaccines. That may be me, but i'm just too lazy for that sort of thing, but seeing people getting addicted to pot and knowing that it can be stopped is sickening.

That, and our veterans aren't getting the support they need. George Washington once said:

"The willingness with which our young people are likely to serve in any war, no matter how justified, shall be directly proportional to how they perceive the veterans of earlier wars were treated and appreciated by their nation"

You know, this wasn't shown on TV, but on Feburary 12, thousands upon thousands of ww2, korean, vietnam, and gulf war veterans traveled by trains, busses, and cars to our nation's capital to protest the war.

Our veterans are not getting the aid that they are promised. Bush clearly stated in his campaign that he will instill faith in our country's veterans, yet, when his cowboy boots hit the oval office, all such vows seemed to be forgotten. We are suppose to aid our veterans, but those promises are DOA.

I'll put up a recent example. During the golf war, more than 161,000 veterans have been disabled, and more than 10,000 died from Gulf war Illness. During the past decade they have been pleading for help from our government, for medical aid. Imagine, these are men who would've gladly sacrificed their lives to save us, brave men who have seen death first hand and seen comrades fall. Yet, our ingrate government, refuses to give help, insisting that their wounds (now proven to be caused by by US destroyed Iraqi chemical munitions and an assortment of other harms, such as oil-fire fumes, untested inoculation shots, and local insectcts that they weren't protected against) were all in their heads.

Now, Bush and his war hawks, and the rest of Congress (who all undoubtly evaded the draft of the Vietnam War) are again sending our warriors to employ a military solution at even greater risk, since our top brass, the Pentagon, have just admitted to the American public that the biological/chemical warfare suits that were issued to our soldiers are not top quailty and are suitible only for bunker duty. There's already some talk about putting in bulldozers to mass-bury our soldiers if chemical warfare starts. Which would, of course, make it easy for our politicians, since there wouldn't be anyone alive to protest!

Consider this: we spend billions of dollars to wage a war, then build an entire country back up from scratch. We rebuilt Afghanistan, but we don't take care of our veterans, who are growing sicker every day. We will rebuild Iraq, but can't spend the bucks to protect our own borders or buy effective bio/chemical suits for our troops!

When I first thought about this, I almost cried. People who are saving our lives are being wasted...

It seems that it is not longer
"lest we forget"
but now the American way is
"Use'em (soldiers), abuse'em (veterans), forget them (protest not shown)"

"Always remember that your weapon is made by the lowest bidder" :-P

i'll "pwn" you ALL at it muhahaha

We've all set into an easy life again.. well, fairly easy and drama-less, which can't be said about last year.

Its been a pretty normal life, too. My track buddies are running hard in track (maybe too hard).

Which brings me on the subject of my leg. After our 4th lap, when i got down to remove the braces that I kept on my legs, my calf muscles just started to move all by itself, trying to pull the tendons from my ankle and my knee into one neat little ball. Fun. Dr. Davies said it was due to some electro-blah imbalance. The end result: eat more bananas. Yay.

I'm beginning to run out of ideas again. I'll see you all later or something
